Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) lift pump

posted in 911 got no response. I was adding freon to my stock 2000 ram it shuts off. I put code reader it says lift pump circuitry out of range. Clear codes fire truck runs until the code reader cord is unplugged. The truck immediatly dies when cord is removed from ecm port. I found that lift pump runs non stop if the cord is removed if i plug in cord lift pump stops and truck fires up no codes??????????? Im baffled

update i unplugged power to lift pump by disconnecting plug to it. Still same no start without the cable plugged into ecm port! So that takes the lift pump out of it im so baffled here

Found the problem to be a bad ground wire the small one from the harness to the passenger battery! Put a new ring terminal on good to go!! I reckon the smarty harness must have made a ground for that circuit when plugged in
