I have the dealer retrofit LP in the tank with another LP mounted in line with it. The low fuel pressure led is starting to light up (no codes). If it is the LP, is it better to go with another in tank LP, or a FASS ?

Thanks

Guess no one has an opinion. I tried to do a search and found that some prefer the FASS and some still prefer the in-tank retrofit. So, I guess no one has an opinion here.

For ease of replacement I went with a frame mounted Air Dog. The AD was one of the earlier pumps they made. I hear the new AD pumps are having problems. A Fass would be a good choice.
I have a Vulcan fuel module kit where I used the same module the in tank pump is located in. The kit involves removing that pump and installing a flexible draw straw in place of the pump. No 1/4 tank issues.

tractorat, my lift pump failed a couple years after I bought truck new and the dealer installed a intank pump. Worked OK but low pressure for several years and then took out another VP44 so I lifted the bed and removed the module. Come to find out the screen on the module in the bottom was almost completely stopped up with what I think was asphaltines. Looks like mouse turds and they had stopped up the screen. So I basically installed my own draw straw (couldn't wait on ordering one) and now it will suck whatever will pass through a 3/8" hose. I mounted a FASS on the rail beneath the tank and now have 15+ lbs unless I REALLY lay down on it. I have the lift pump on its own relay and fuse and the relay coil is fed by the VP44 power. At least when it stops up now I can clean it out without lifting the bed or dropping a full tank of fuel.

Thanks Hcole,
How many miles/years do you have on the FASS ? This is only my second LP, and it has about 50k miles on it (about what the first one did when it went out)
Hopefully it didnt damage the IP.

trac, I keep a diary on my truck repairs and modifications but I'm home and it's at my business shop. I'll check tomorrow but the FASS if I remember correctly has been on there AT least 60,000 miles and I had a holley blue before that but they wouldn't last but a year or so without problems. The FASS has worked great. I put about 25,000-30,000 miles a year on the truck, depending on my business needs.
