Has anyone successfully bombed their truck and taken it in for warranty on the lift pump? I have a banks system on my truck and the lift pump is getting weak. It is too much trouble to unhook all the banks stuff so I thought I would give it a try for the warranty thing. I am going to try anyway. Just wondered if anyone has got away with it.

Thanks, Big Bry:confused:

Just do it yourself! ($140 from Cummins)

Definitely not worth the hassle of taking the Banks stuff off, plus you don't have to deal with the STEALER!

Yeah, I finally got them to do it. I have a Banks Powerpack installed, but the wire to the VP44 is not connected. They balked at the fact that it had a Banks kit, and I pointed out that the engine wasn't getting anymore fuel than stock. Which, at that time, was true. The hard part, was convincing them that we needed to replace the pump since the engine still ran fine, and the truck drove fine. It took us hooking up a pressure gauge and putting it under the wiper, driving around, plus two calls to cummins and two calls to the star hotline. Three trips to the dealer later, the part is on order. Conclusion... It was such a PITA, I should have just replaced it myself.

For the $130-150 that they cost at Cummins I would not bother. I think while I was changing it I would move it to the rear of the truck back by the tank. You get much better performance out of it there and itis easier to change in that location.

I just took my truck with a VA box, boost modeule etc into Kendall Auto Center in Cottage Grove, OR. to have them check my boost hose which I thougt was leaking. Instead they replaced the lift pump and saw the modifications and notified DCM of the mods and DCM voided my warranty. I had to pay $600. 00 for a new lift pump and it still didn't solve the problem. Since they were unable to diagnose the problem they set me up with Cummin's NW in Eugene, Or. who said my turbo was dragging. This will be a $1,000. 00 plus replacement since Chrysler voided my warranty. If you have any mods on your rig, by all means stay away from Kenall in Cottage Grove.

Cummins NW said they would not be able to replace my 14cm turbo housing and it would be returned to a stocj housing. If I want the older housing I would have to pay a $900. 00 core charge.
