Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift pump

Good day,

Just turned 50k on my 01. No problems, just looking for first tire peplacements for my TA's and pushin is good. I hear a bunch about lift pumps. Is there a milage where I should be looking to do some pm and replace? Any general rules. I am still a new guy.

There is no set mileage-people had them go out from 1,000 to 180,000 miles. Problem is if pump is marginal and failing (less than 10lbs at idle) the injector pump is in danger. Get a fuel pressure gauge and monitor the fuel pressure-its cheap insurance.

I lost mine at 36k. I know that people that have lost 2 by that time. You never can tell if they are bad till it happens. Eric

I was reading all the posts about the lift pump myself just 2 weeks ago. Then I took my truck to Auto Wurks Diesel to have DD2's ,14cm exhaust housing & ATS exhaust manifold installed .

I asked them to replace my fuel filter while it as where. Then I get good news bad news :--) from them. Pump was gone . But they had one on hand. I had know idea that it was gone. I have 84K on the truck its a 99 never gave me any indication I had a problem. All I can say is put gauge as soon as possible.
