After eleven years and approximately 112,000 km, I suspected that the lift pump may not be working properly on my 92 CTD. Changed the fuel filter and rather than pouring diesel into the new filter I used the little primer lever and with about 20 strokes the filter was overflowing. I then tightend the fuel filter and turned the key and she fired right up and ran as smooth as always. Since the primer lever filled the filter up so quickly I am thinking that the lift pump must be ok, or am I wrong?
I cut the fuel filter open and the filtering medium was spotless.
