I posted this a while back in another thread and never really got an answer regarding lift pumps... ... . Are these things still hard to get on short notice? I am going on a 2k road trip soon and don't want to be stranded waiting for a pump if it were to fail BUT I don't want to drop $150 bucks for a pump I don't need. I know all the arguments about having a spare, but at some point you have to "Go with what you got", otherwise I'd be dragging a spare truck along. Maybe it boils down to "How lucky do you feel punk!" (Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry)... . Sorry, I just had to do that...

:p

I see you have a fuel pressure guage...

What has it been telling you lately? Seems to me, the readings start to get "funny" a week or two in advance before the lift pump fails.

Actually, the gauges were install systematically so I could see conditions before and after bombing mods. What I have found regarding FP is, essentially no change. It is very stable. It ranges between 11 and 14 at idle... 9 to 11 going down the road and 8 to 10 when pulling steep grades. It hasn't done anything funny, it is good to know that they at least give a little warning before they fail.

Carter just release the lift pum to general distrubtion, I not sure of the availablity, but the price is sure going to get better.
