I spent the day installing the Daystar leveling kit. Then I had too take them off. The shock is really streched out. I test drove it and the shock did strech to its fullest. Could feel a little jolt from the shocks on slight rough sureface.

Is there some way too lengthen the mounting rod on the shock?

Or are there any shorter shock towers out there?

I haven't measured the height of the towers but they look like a couple of inches, make a replacement bracket for the top out of 1/4" flat stock,If you can't make I have a shop that can.

No good options

I had the same trouble. The shock towers are about 5" so flat plate makes it too short. I spent a lot of time in the junkyard looking for similar shock towers around 2-3 inches with no luck. I also searched for shock stud extensions and found nothing (I wasn't sure I liked this idea anyway. )

I ended up taking off my stock shock mounts, heating up each leg on the tower with a torch, and putting a 90 degree bend in them about halfway up. Then I redrilled the mounting holes, cut off the excess, and painted them. The dimensions are not all that critical - the shock is rubber mounted. It's a one-way operation, so if you want to go back to stock you'll have to buy new parts.

If I would have spent my time working overtime instead of all of the searching I could have afforded to do it right and just bought longer aftermarket shocks. This may be the best (not cheapest) option.

How about a flat plate with a cutout hole in the middle for a large enough piece of pipe for the shock then weld a flat on top of the pipe for the shock bolt?

Did the person you bought the kit from not tell you you would need longer shocks? You'll have to replace the shocks with some longer ones.

Don't believe everything you read

As a matter of fact, the Tuff Country kit specifically says that stock shocks will be long enough. What do they know? I'm not sure what the Daystar kit says, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's something similar.

Working on a solution

New shocks are out of the question. They are new. I'm not gonna waste any more money on pre mo shocks.

I've got a few ideas right now and will check into them. I'll let ya know what I do.

I like having the truck sitting close too level. Only 3/4'' difference between front to back.

Oh one other thing I did have to use a spring compresor. The axle did not drop far enough to even get the stock crap out.
