where's the best price?

What's a good price for a used front bumper?

I got my 3500 tailgate light bar to install (thanks RR), but since the 2500's don't have the 'jumper harness' to plug both the light bar and liscense plate lights into, I'm guessing I'll just "tap" into the wires. What's the best method?

I did a search and found a part number for a "wiring harness" #55054824, but I'm not sure if this is what I need. Plus, the dealer wanted $50 for it. It seems all I need is a "dual plug" of some kind, like a splitter, to get both harnesses into.

Also, what type/size of screws should I use to mount the bar?

I know a few guys have done this (Wowzy, Evan, Thomas) or maybe some 3500 owners would be willing to look under the truck to see what type of "plug" is needed, and maybe back out a screw to see what type to use too.

Thanks for any help.

The rear harness on your 2500 will not have a place to plug in even if you did buy the $50 harness. When I installed my light bar I just tapped into the license plate lights.

I used some black anodized shetmetal screws, but I don't remember size they are... all I know is I stuck them in the hole in the bar until I found a size that fit right.

"The rear harness on your 2500 will not have a place to plug in"—I don't know about the $50 harness but can assure you that there is a place to plug in on my model year 2000 Ram 2500. When the rear ID Bar Kit (P/N 82401355) was available it came with a jumper harness that was inserted between the left license lamp connector and the truck's existing wiring harness. I just replaced the left license lamp connector at a stealer price of $10+. The Rear ID Bar Kit cost me $32. I can't imagine the $50 harness that you're looking at is the jumper harness included in my $32 kit. All you need is a part number!

Thomas,

I got your e-mail and attached install instructions. Thanks a lot. When it dries out up there, see if you can get a part number off that jumper of yours. I've called around, and all the -5 star dealers around here are clueless.

As for the screws, I guess self tappers are the only way to go. Any other choices, for added stability (less chance of loosening or stripping over time)?

Just looked. The jumper doesn't appear to have a part number attached.

The left and right license lamp connectors are identical (P/N 56018807). I suspect that 3500's have the jumper you're interested in between the left license lamp connector and the truck's existing wiring harness from the factory. If you can get your local parts counter to bring up a drawing showing P/N 56018807, you may be able to find out the part number of the jumper.

Good luck.

I removed a couple of 3500 bars from the junk yard, just black self tapping screws, they did have silicone sealant on them to stop rust. DC did something right. You will also have to drill a hole for the wires. Scotch-Locs on the plate lights worked great.
