I'm am planning on getting a set of blue headlights but want ones with a VERY little blueish to them. Not the blues ones that most ricers have where it's nothing but blue, just a nice tint. The Wal-mart down the street has a set of 2 for $16. Is this a good price, they are Slyvaina(sp)?

AJB

Thats a really cheap price, go for it, Sylvania makes good bulbe too. I have PIAA "Super white" bulbs in my 01', i did not really notice a worthwhile differance.

i forgot...

I forgot to mention that these are the "Cool Blue" version of the lights.

Also, how do you hook up the fog lights to stay on when you turn the brights on?

Thanks,

AJB

Blue??

Keep in mind the human eye and blue light , even pure white light are not the best of combinations. Human eye is most sensative at about a wavelength of 560nm, yellow green light. Blue does have a propensity to instantly wipe out dark adaptation in a large proportion of the population. Want some half blind drivers pointed at you? Blue light also tends to defract at wider angles than yellow ( shorter wavelength ) which really dazzles oncoming drivers during foggy and rainy conditions. Blue headlights are just very poor engineering, a sop to the marketing suits.

Now, off of soapbox, flame suit on 8^)

Blue bulbs

Stay away from them. I had them in mine for about a month. they cut down your beam by about a third, and makes it hard to see on dark roads. I live in the desert and is pretty dark at night. they do make the white lines brighter! also in rain forget about any light it's all reflection:( just my opinion mike

Tx, look under your hood and you'll see a relay box on top of the drivers side fender. There should be a relay marked "Fog Lights".

Pull it out and look on the underside of the relay where the spades are. You'll see numbers. Look for the #3 and the #5 connectors, then take a piece of 14ga. wire about an inch long and crimp some spade connectors on each end to make a jumper and plug the jumper in the box where the #3 and #5 connectors on the relay would've plugged into it. Then put the cover back on the box and just throw the relay in your glove box.

TxDieselKid,

You might want to read the articles at this site, especially the one about blue bulbs, before you spend your hard-earned money. Good info on this site. Look around.

AJB,

Hope I don't meet you coming down the road while we're towing the 5ver. These blasted HID's, intense white and blue bulbs blind the heck out of me! One old man's opinion - they're a pain in the keester! ;)

I have also head the difference isen't worth the money although they are pretty cheap. It is your money but a set of cab clearance lights would be more noticeable I think. Glad you are starting to bamb, just a little at least.

I got 3 sets of the farenheit xenon , they give off a brighter white with a slight blue tint. I have then in 9004 and in the 893.

The 893s fit the 94ish mustang fog lights.

I'm wanting to sell these you can e-mail me if you are interested.

3 sets of the 9004 and 3 of the 893

Calim down yall

My word, calim down yall. I aint getting the super bright ones that will blind the other drivers, just something a little different.

Thanks WOWZY for the quick fix.

As for going to Shrieveport, what would I do there? Just asking if there's somthing I don't know about.

AJB

I just thought Shrieveport was probably the closest place in Louisiana of any size to where you are. It just seems to me that Texas young men like to slip across the border (any border) when they get the chance.

Casino a plenty...

I would love to slip across the border into Mexico sometime, never been. I've never heard of anybody from going to Louisana for anything really, but maybe I'll gamble, and try to win some BOMBing $$$!!!

The reason I want the blue tint, is for the looks, not to "get more light from a blue lens" idea. I never thought this would be done. It's just something a little different on a Ram from everyone else's. I can not afford the H. I. D. 's for $500 bucks right now, I'd get a PE EZ if I had that kinda $. :D

Okie,

I dont really know if a set of cab clearince lights would look good on a 2wd, short bed. I like the way they look on yours, but you got a long, bed, with a chicken slide. I would like to get a set of injectors, and a box, and gauges, but that's all WAY over my budget for now, so a $20 set of lights calcaulate into the budget a LOT better right now.

"Cool Blues" are duds

So here I am at Wal-mart, looking at the lights, Slyvaina "Cool Blue" 45/?? watts finally my girlfriend says, "Oh just get them because you wont be happy untill you do". Good sign! Hope she feels this way when I look at boxs, injectors, and so on. So we get to the parking lot of my dorm, and pop the hood. Put in the left side, and leave the right one stock.

"Um, honey, is it just me or do they look the same?"... she has to rub it in my face with out meaning to. They are the exect same as the stock ones. Not even anymention of blue if you were passing by.

So they are going back tommorw, and I'm ording from J. C. Whitney after I finsh posting this. I would order from BigYellow, but I don't want to mess with the hassle of checks, and all, sorry.

The things I do to standout.

The blue bulbs are a waste of money. Had them in my Grand Cherokee, couldn't even see the blue. They lasted about 6 months and both burned out the same day. I use the Sylvania X-tra visions in both the Dodge and Jeep now. They are a much better light and only a couple dollars more than the reg bulbs.

I have personally used them all from the ion blue to the piaa superwhites. Wouldn't give a squirt of p$%s for any of them. I have the Quad bulb headlights and replaced them all with the piaa. Wished I wouldn't have wasted the 140 bucks. But untill somebody comes out with a higher wattage bulb, the superwhites stay in. Best lighting setup I ever had was a set of Hella H4 conversion headlights with IPF 90/140 watt H4's on my old Cherokee. Expensive bulbs (50. 00 a piece) but they were well worth it. Man were they bright:cool:
