Light On The Flag

I finally went to get some outdoor lamps so I can leave my flag out at night. After checking out the low voltage lamps at Home Depot and WalMart I decided that the low volt lights were too pricy for my cheap ***.



At WalMart I stumbled on a great 120v clamp-on worklight, that uses a 35 watt halogen bulb, for 12 bucks. My flag hangs down under the front eaves and the lamp works perfectly, clamped to the eavetrough. I'm using my outdoor timer that I use for the truck's blockheater with the lamp.



Make me feel proud to have that flag lighted up and to do it cheaply to boot!

Driving by the local US Forest Service headquarters tonight I noticed their flag was still flying half mast in the dark as it has for every night for the past 12 days. Really pissed me off. Who should I complain to?

Usually the local "ranger". That is, the top guy in the district.



In times of peace, you complain of flag mistreatment by federal employees to the justice dep't, but I suspect they are a bit busy right now.

How about a friendly reminder

Instead of "complaining" to someone, call them up or stop by and give a friendly reminder. I work at a federal building and ours was at half mass until Monday when we came back to work. I know in the past at our building the light that illuminates the flag has burnt out and we've had people "complain" instead of just letting us know. I have a full time job defending our country and the flag which represents it but unfortunately I'm not afforded the time to watch the light on the flag every night. I'm happy to fix it when I notice or if it's pointed out to me.
