OK guys, give me the skinny.

I want to pull my truck once or twice a year. I realize that some of you are already laughing, because everyone knows it's addicting and 2 or 3 times will turn into a thirst that will be hard to quench. My question: Are their any smoke breathers out there that pull their truck once and a while with a con FE or something similar? I hate to pull $2000+ out of the old billfold for a DD until I see if I like this thing. I'm talking a class like work stock (DHRA rules). Let me hear some opinions and stories, good and bad. I thought I'd try a couple of events in work stock for 07 and then maybe up the turbo drag out the weight bar and add the DD for the next year. Surely I'm not the only person that feels this way. Let me hear it.

traction or ladder bars are a must. thus is where I would start check this site they have the biggest selection I found I went with the tough country ladder bars. more affordable than most and work awesome.

Right now traction bars, necessary safety equipment, electronics, fuel systems, big hitch, and all that fun stuff is in the works if not already on the truck. My real point is: I don't know if I'll have the funds I need to install a dual disk clutch by the time the season starts, and I was wanting to get by with the con FE for a couple of pulls until I can slap in the big clutch

You'll destroy the FE.

Best bet is to sell the FE and buy a dual disc.

You need to slip to properly sled pull..... SLIP NOT MELT! :-laf

Yeah,

You're right. Looks like my big Honda street cruiser is on it's way to the Auto Trader. That'll give me a few thousand to finish up for now. :-laf

Pull the FE out sell it and put a DD in and just get it over with.

It's good to hear tho you already are taking sets to get ready tho.

The cool part is that my wife is having as much fun with this diesel sickness as I am. She went out and got herself an 04. 5 in November. She says it's too quiet, and all the young boys around town are blowing smoke at her though. I think it's kind of nice to have a quiet one at my disposal. :)

If you just want to hook it once or twice you could do it with the FE. Don't get upset when it doesn't do very well. If your running the stock charger you could be ok, that thing lights really easily. If your sure your gonna get serious about it, then save yourself the trouble and just buy the big parts now. I know of a guy that has a 3850 12CB that he is thinking about pulling out. Never sled pulled with it. PM for details.

here is my FE after its first sled pull(about 475 horse)

I was able to throw the disk on the flywheel and it would find the groove itself and same with the pressure plate :-laf

You can pull-as long as you have bald tires, no larger than 215s.

I started out in 2000 with expensive single discs, at 300HP. 245 all seaon Good Years, if you pretty much dumped the clutch, it only stank for about 30 miles on the way home.

I Also Want To Try My Dodge This Summer At A Couple Of The Local Fairs , With A 48 Re With A Shift Kit Installed And Everything Else In My Profile Do I Pull In 4 Low And Leave The transmission In Drive With Over Drive Off , Or Do I Put It In 4 High And The transmission In Low Speed ? Will It Shift Out Of 1 St If I Fo That ? I Ve Pulled For 15 Years With A Alky 650 Cid Motor But I Had A 5 Disc Clucth Setup , Miss The Sport But Got To Be To Much $$$ And I Did The Family Thing In 2003

Do You Think I Should Make Some Sort Of Ladder Bar Set Up ? I Just Want To Pull At 3 Pulls This Summmer , I Got The Power For The Street Diesel Class , Has To Be 100% Street Legal And You Said To Put In 4 Low And transmission In Drive ( With Od Off ) And Let It Shift Itself And Thats The Best Thing To Do ?

After putting a set of ladder bars on my rig. It is by far one of the best mods you can do. Every puckup should have a set. so many benefits to them. haven't found a down side yet.

Since I started this thread I just wanted to throw something in:

I haven't spent alot of time on here, but I really appreciate the input from you members out there. I think jwilliams3 has had some valuable input on just about all

of my threads, but I want to thank everyone. My renewal is coming up and I definitely want to remain a part of this group of what seems to be good people

Thanks everybody,

Joe
