after spending 1540 miles in my 2006 2500, i would really like to have my cup holders(G56) and rear slider/ heated seat switches illuminated. what a PITA trying to find that coffee cup at 2am! did these trucks have lights there and mine are blown out? everyother truck i've owned has had lights in these areas!

Your lights appear to not be working. There is a "mood" light that shines on the cubby/cup holder area around your shifter boot. It is supposed to shine through the square opening you can feel if you put your finger under the horizontal part of the dash just below your heated seats and rear slider switches. Mine used to work on and off..... now it hasn't worked in months. The other switches should be lit (if I recall correctly... ... I'd have to run outside and check!)

its good to know im not going crazy! i thought there used to be lights there. besides pulling the bulb to see if its burnt out where should i look for the cure?

I can't vouch for you not being crazy... . but there are supposed to be lights back there! ;)

I imagine you'll need to pull that panel and get in there to check it out. I don't have the manual with me... . but I'm sure it's in there!

I don't recall having those lights there on my 04. 5. (And now I don't recall if an 03 and an 04. 5 have the same dash layout!) Dang - getting old.....

Is there supposed to be lights on my 03? Shadrach

I have the hole for it but the lighting package wasn't available on some of the early 03's. My friend has it in his 06 and it would look pretty cool lighting up my manual shifter. unfortunately I mounted my prodigy over where the lamp mounts so it wouldn't do much now.

I put an after market kit in my '03 but haven't driven it enough in the past few years to know if they are working or not. Now I'm not sure if I did put one in or was going to.

I must be getting old to Scooby

I know exactly what you mean. Now, my process would be to order the kit (again? who knows. . ) and go to put it in only to find it's already there.
Aint getting old entertaining? (to others I mean)

I thing that only the Laramie trucks had the cup holder light and the glove compartment light. My 04. 5 Laramie had them and my 07 SLT did not, so I ordered them from Dodge and plugged them into the harness plugs that were in the truck. The underhood light was the same.

Got part #'s for the cup holder light and underhood light ??

Also, can ANYONE please post a pic of exactly where the cup holder light goes?

I have the exact same proble as the OP in my 2005. I was going to drill a small hole in the console right between the cup holders and wire in a blue led, but if there is a plug n' plat part available, that would also work well for me. For the life of me, though , I can't see where the oem light would mount in my truck... TIA

It was an option on my SLT. Light group, under-hood lighting, visors cubby hole ect. . It is not very bright on the cup holders in my opinion. Might be better of fabbing something yourself.

Thanks John... I finally found the opening up and inside the lowest cubby just yesterday. I'll try to find and price the parts and decide what to do from there.

I've seen lights that plug into your cigarette lighter, similar to a map light but not as bright. Might be the easiest way to go. My '01 came with a cupholder light, I tied into the wiring there for my guage lights. Apparently not all the year/trim models have it.
