Lately when I start the truck in colder weather [40f} the lights will dim noticably two or three times immeadiatly after startup. Is this normal? Could it be the grid heater comming on and off? If this is normal so be it, but I dont want to find that it is a problem when it gets really cold and have the truck do somthing funky away from home.

<font color=blue>Yes that is completely normal. That is your grid heater cycling through its cool down.

So don't worry about it.

scott, just wait till it gets really cold, your lights will dim up and down for a few minutes. On a '95 the heaters shut down if you go over 10 mph.

It's been a while, but I think mine shuts off @15 or 20 MPH.

My 99 can cycle the manifold heater up to 3 minutes or if your reach 18mph then it shuts off. I like the idea of not getting up until it's warm outside #ad
. You can plug the block heater in if the cycling bothers you - At least I think the 01's still have a block heater as standard equipment?

Thank everyone! I thought it was somting like that, but better safe than sorry.
I also would like to leave when the sun is up and only when it it warm but unfortunately I have to go to work to pay for such an awsome truck. {and to eat of course} I work 3rd shift and leave late at night.
Thanks again everyone. Scott
