2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Lights

I'm looking for suggestions on replacement lights. I put a set of the sylvania Silver Stars in a couple years back. At first I really liked them, they were nice and white. Now they are so yellow they are almost useless. I would like to get something bright and white! and a match for the fog lights. Any suggestions besides the sport conversion would be great.

Headlight bulbs lose intensity over time. if the lenses are still clear and you like the Sylvanias I suggest you get another set. If the headlight lens are opaque like most, the new headlight assemblies from Genos work very well and come with GE bulbs IIRC. I'm really happy with mine. I do have mine wired through relays and also wired so the dims stay on when brights are selected.

Phillips Xtreme-Power or Xtereme-Vision bulbs are a step up even over the Sylvanias. I liked theme so much after running them in my truck that I now choose to tun them in all my vehicles. They are a bright, white/yellow bulb (NO blue) that offer superior forward lighting and also last a long time. Get 'em on amazon or here --

Try Amazon for exact replacement. I installed and love fit function. I tried Anzo's from Genos and didn't like fit or OEM bulbs. I upgraded to LED then to HID and after HID I will never go back as I live near rock quarry with lots of deer crossing highway and a little extra time for brakes really helps.

Also exchanged the normal headlights with the Sylvania Ultras and the OEM fog lamps that provided the COOL FACTOR & were useless for anything else were replaced with late model Peterbilt fog lamps that actually put some light out.

Naturally DISCRETION is advised when and where these are used other than the Sylvania Ultras and the OEM fog replacements even then some will respond with their high beams so you will lower yours.

I second the phillips xtreme power. I have not used the newer extreme vision so can't comment on them. I did do the sport light upgrade which improved the lighting significantly. I used the bulbs that came with the housings. I then put in the phillips a few weeks later and there again was a noticeable difference.

In most states, driving with your fog lights on, and not shutting them off for oncoming traffic, will earn you a ticket. Many of these headlight bulbs are too bright as well. Chances are that your lenses are fogged over from heat and time. Most if these super magic crazy extreme mega-bright bulbs will heat up your lens and cause them to yellow faster. Oh yeah, anything brighter than oem is illegal too. We all want more light, but be considerate to other drivers as well. I'm not saying your not considerate, but we have all seen the ones that drive in town with their fog lights on, as if they are extra driving lights. They are not. Stepping of my soapbox now.

I agree with everything you said except one. I spend a lot of nights on the road, and have seen no one being pulled over for driving with their high beams on or mal-adjusted lights or fog/headlights on. The cops are too busy catching speeders, not to mention that many newer riceburners come from the factory with unadjusted lights. Also, lets not forget the lifted monster truck wannabees who never bother to aim their headlights down a little. They don't get pulled over either.

I'm not going to seek for your neck of the woods, but down here in Florida, you will get hammered. Driving with high beams or "fog" lights is a $168 moving infraction, with points. Though I've rarely seen it written, misaligned lights is a $116 non-moving infraction. As long as you dim your lights for other traffic, yoi should be fine. It's a shame that we need laws like these to coerce people into being courteous to other drivers. I'm just saying...
