I was just looking at that add in Kit Car magazine in Books a Million tonight, I remembered seeing these recab kits at ca/truck shows in the past.
Before you put any money down on these kits, make sure you physically sit in one and see if you'll be happy with the cab space. You have less width in these cabs than an Toyota pickup cab. That alone is something I am not sure I would want for a tow rig. The styling is cool, but the practical cab space seems such a step back compared to even an old Dodge 250 series, that I am betting the end project would be impractical for long trips.
If they had a similar kit that utilized either a Freightliner Cab over, or a Volvo VN cab, with full width seating, I'd be really interested in that. The older Pete's and KW's may be a classic trucker's choice, but after driving them for years in teh past, I have no desire to even sit in one anymore. I used to be able to roll down the passengers window while driving down road. WAY too narrow for a life on the road kind of rig.
On the positive side of these kits, I have talked to a few owners who built them, they were very pleased with the fit and finish of the bodies. For a Kit Car, that's a rare thing to say across the board for a specific model kit. I am not sure however if the link you posted is the only manufacturer of these body style kits. If it is, they are very nice, if there are competitors, I can't be sure if the ones I saw were this brand. It has been over a year since I saw any of them.
