How can I tell if I have one, I put my Mag-Hytec on there Fri. and I really couldn't tell. Would the tag that was on the stock cover tell? It tells the gear ratio I know. At least I didn't have any big pieces of metal in there, just the normal little filings.

Thanks, Steve

Steve if you have an LSD you should see a bundle of "clutch plates" when you pulled the cover off.

Also, under the hood just to the side of the hood latch there is a sticker with the details of you diff. It will give you the ratio of the diff. as well.

If you take the VIN of the truck and have a local dealer run the VIN you should get a full printout of the entire truck, it's options, facts and figures on GVW, paint scheme plus the actual paint codes.

That's a good point, Pastor. Upon R&R of my cover, I couldn't see aka didn't know what I'm looking at so asked my brother. He said if you jack it up,turn one wheel and the other one won't, then it's limited w/the clutch pack. Mine did that as compared to turning one when the other turns opposite way.

When I did turn the wheel, it was very difficult to do so. No it wasn't brake drag  and I DID have the little orange pointer covering the N:) but, still couldn't see no stinken' clutch pack

LS rearend

The LS carrier is totally enclosed,no way to view the clutches or spiders. An open rear has a wide open "window" in the side and you can see the differential pinion gears inside.

Good point Dodgenstien... . I thought there was an opening that allowed the plate(s) to be seen...

As for a 'window' on the open diffs... mine is so "open" it has a barn door :D:D

Around here, they call me "one wheel peel"..... ;)

Greenleaf,

Also, the carrier on a LSD will have a square end opposite the pinion (pass side), whereas the open diff will be distinctly rounded on that side. Hope you put in two bottles of stuff. If not, you need to ASAP. The on in my mom's 92 has always wanted at least two, and it is grabbing on the inside now around tight turns. MIght need to go with a third. Rather have it slip a little than have it grab and eat clutches.

Also, I think the LSD tag has a LS either before or after the ratio. IE- 3. 54 LS -or- LS 3. 54 I forget which it is.

Yah, Put that stuff in:) I'll look at my tag next time she's over the pit. I need to look up the VIN no. too, so as to obtain paint codes. My in-house DODGE guru told me about this, just haven't done it yet.

Old age is when you know all the answers, but nobody asks you the questions.

Mine must be open, as far as I know it doesn't say anything on the tags or under the hood. I just changed the front last night, it's allllll good. no big pieces either.

Thanks, Steve
