Hey all, got the service def system see dealer. I am at a rest stop in St. Augustine florida on I 95. Any thoughts on where to go from here on a Sunday? I have 85 miles to limp mode. Is there any way to reset this or is that dealer only? Supposed to be in Maryland Sunday afternoon, guess thats not hapenning. Thanks in advance. Tim

Truck is a 2014 2500 Cummins 4x4.

Tried that, and cleared the codes. Drove down to Daytona (hopefully sunday service). Truck threw 3 codes and the service message did not go away. Codes are P207f, P20EE and P249E

Thanks for the reply. What actually constitutes a start cycle? Am I not doing something right?

I also drained (siphoned) the tank out and refilled with the mix of new and old DEF. reset the codes, and no change. Hopefully I can get some fresh DEF when they open and maybe try again.

I doubt new DEF will correct your problem. The P20EE code does not automatically mean the DEF is bad. It really means the DEF is not doing the conversion in the SCR CAT it is supposed to do. Unfortunately a trip to the dealer is probably in order.

That is not the fix,see the dealer and get it repaired

My point exactly. When I got here the tech asked me who removed the codes because there was nothing in the computer. (I had erased them hoping the limp mode message would go away) so basically there are no active codes and it still goes to 5 mph

On my way between AZ and GA back in January my son decided it would be a good idea to put my passenger electric seat completely forward to its stop, "just to see". A wire shorted out underneath, and I couldn't find what was pinched to move it back. Anyway, my point is it was a Sunday and I ended up driving just about 1,000 miles before I was passing a dealership that was open to fix it. This couldn't wait until I got home since we had a truck full of people (and a dog), so we had to use this seat, but there was only enough legroom for my kids. If my issue I needed to resolve was DEF related, I would have literally been stuck camping outside a dealership until they opened as I wouldn't have been able to keep driving until one was open. That would have really ****** me off if I was in the middle of this 1,900 mile trip.

Agreed. Im supposed to be in class in Maryland right now, and yet here I am stuck in Daytona. Can not take the class now as to qualify it I would have to be in class by noon. Oh well time to reschedule it

Out of thousand sold only a very few "stop do not pass go" problems show up on these forums. SNOKING

Not every Dodge owner is on this forum but I hear where you are coming from . There should be a 100mi bypass to get you to a dealer under full power.

Million mile umbilical to the dealer. If it is anything complicated just setup the 5'er in the parking lot as you will be there a while.

From LD to HD they all seem to have the same issues, sort out the electronics in the first 6 moths replacing failed sensors and valves. Price of progress is bandied about, but, a 6 figure engine idled due to cheap electronics is hard to swallow.

It's all about the emission laws. The truck will run fine without def but the exhaust pollutants would go up too much to be legal

Snoking, i agree, as far as on these forums. The tech told me i was lucky to get 32000 out of the cat. His comment was "I ordered a bunch of these because of all the problems we have with them, I should have one"...they didnt have one. No I cant quantify any of this, but it does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about my truck that I routinely take for trips of several thousand miles.

As a side note, my farher has a 2014 ford andthey just increased their emissions related warranty to 7/120000 (i think thats what he said) for random information

P-bar
They give you a 150 mile limp mode warning and countdown. Not real beneficial to get where your going on a 1200 mile trip.
