Some years ago I bought a Lincoln battery powered power lube gun. Its nice and I like it. I only used it here and there on the truck and mowers. It was one of their first models with 7. 2V battery pack and charger.
Now, 10 years later, the battery and charger are both junk. I can still find the 7. 2V battery and charger... but the newer models have the 12V battery and charger. They are also available locally at Rural King... whereas the 7. 2V units are hard to find and expensive.
I think the 12V battery will still fit into my gun. I'm going to try that today. My gun does work fine when I hook up 12V to it. Runs slightly faster of course but nonetheless doesn't appear to suffer any problems from 12V.
Anyone think running the 12V newer style battery will kill it fast? I took the cover apart and basically its all whether or not the motor can handle it.
In my youth I ran R/C cars and raced them. I remember running these expensive motors on all sorts of various battery pack voltages with no dire effects that I could tell. So I'm figuring the worst that could happen is I burn the brushes up faster then have to buy a new motor.
