Does anyone run a line lock? I put one on inline from the master to the proportioning valve but it will only hold for about 3 seconds? I did bleed all lines so there are no air problems. The truck has an auto and rear anti lock breaks. I was wondering could it be back feeding through the proportioning valve to the master?

I think that's probably your problem. I have a line lock on my truck and I installed it on the brake side of the proportioning valve. For the front brakes (on non 4 wheel abs trucks) there is only one line coming out of the proportioning valve to the front brakes. You can see pics of my install in this thread - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68886 .

jdakin - if you have 4wheel abs then you'd need to install 2 line locks hooked up to the same switch. The 4 wheel abs system is a 3 channel abs - each front brake is on it's own circuit and the rears are on one together. You'd need to put them on the output side of the abs controller between it and the brakes. I don't know of anyone who has done so yet. I'm pretty sure you will set an abs fault code.

Just thinking here what if you do have the abs motor on top of the fender, Now just thinking what if you use the line lock reverse pattern on the rear brakes? One line to the rear brakes reverse the pattern the line lock to stop fluid from getting to them? You still have to hold the pedal but it's not bad for auto's but is for man trucks?

Your front brakes would still release because the ABS computer would be sensing wheel lockup and release them. By putting the line locks between the ABS controller and the brakes it wouldn't matter what the ABS controller was doing the brakes would still hold. You'd need 2 because there are two seperate lines coming out of the controller to the front brakes. The reason I think it would set a fault code is because it would be trying to release the brakes but couldn't - pretty sure that would be read as a fault.

Would it fault temporarily and clear when "service" is restored? Or would the fault remain it is cleared by a code reader?

Well saturday I went out and blocked off the rear brakes out of the abs with a plug. I started up the truck drove it down the road and no codes and it did stop. I came back the the driveway and performed a good old burnout. It still didn't set any codes yet.

Take a look at Mico Locks. Lots of info there, I am not sure a simple line lock will work with the ABS system, of course I don't think they cater to the "burn out" crowd so the advice and product might not apply :)
