Spray-in Bedliner

I'm thinking of getting a Line-X bedliner. I live in the Dallas area. I was looking for a dealer that has some decent pricing. I got one fellow to quote me $420 but then said he wanted another $200 for color (yeah right!). Does anybody have a suggestion for a Line-X dealer anywhere in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area?

Line - X

The $200 for a color seems to be the going rate. I just had my 03 done in VT and they wanted the extra 200 for color. Right they wanted... ... . I went Black.

Be careful all Line-X dealers are not good !!!. Two years ago I had a line-x dealer shoot my Dodge Power Wagon. IT was terrible, thin in spots, did nto flow the corners well. It took over a year of letters between me and Line-X Corp to get the approval to take it to the dealer in Vt. He fixed the problems, looked perfect when he was done. Took him almost all day as he had to grind a lot off.

My suggestion is to try to find some examples of the dealers work where you plan to go. And by examples, I dont mean his show work..... look for customers trucks.

I had mine done at Texas Trick Shop on I30 at Big Town Blvd in Mesquite. Patrick is the shop owner and a real nice guy to deal with. If I remember correctly, my long bed was $365(might have been 385) in black... I didn't ask about colors.

LINE-X BEDLINERS

Good advice from WM-30 ! Check work the dealer has done on other trucks. When I had my Line-X done in Jan. ,03 I was told it would be about 1/4" thick on the floor and wheel wells, and about 3/16" thick on the sides. Looked good. After a few months a big "blister" came up on one side. Also when I drilled holes to install my 5th wheel hitch and trailer elec. plug I found the floor Line-X was only about 3/32" to 1/8" at the most and the sides were about 1/32" thick, just enough to barely cover. The reason it blistered and was peeling was because the bed was not properly prepared, - was not "scuffed" enough.

The dealer refused to do anything other than patch the blister until my attorney made it very clear the job would be properly done at his expense, by him or elsewhere. It was totally re-done and I am happy now.

If I had it to do over I would insist on checking the bed before spraying and make sure it was scuffed real good and have it in writting as to the thickness it was to be. Don' t take anyones verbal promise for any thing as some cut quality and material for big profit. JMO. :D

I think Line-X is a great product, but is only as good as the preparation and installer. Buyer beware!

do you think that these issues are widespread, or do you think that these are isolated cases. I havnt heard a bad word about Line-X till now

My neighbor had to have his Line-X repaired in 2 pickups due to poor installation - I think he had them done in Milwaukie Oregon.

I have had 2 beds done by Arma Coating without any problems. They quoted $100 extra to add color - The fee is to clean the gun before and after because they mainly spray the black.

I know the dealer who screwed up my Line-X was new. He made a big point of telling me he was new and the factory training he received. I believe he wanted to do a good job, but did not either know how or have the experience. The dealer who fixed all the problems and reshot the entire bed did wonderful work. He is the person I took My new 2003 Ram to for Line-X and the job is great. I believe you can run into this problem with any brand/dealer who shoote bed liners. Be careful, look at some of his work, before he pulls the trigger on your truck.

Due to those issues- basically not knowing the logevity of the product- I stayed with what I knew. I did the Rhino thing- not because it is better or worse than linex- just different. The same guy who did my 1889. 5 was still in business- a known quantity. I also got my fold flat floor done. Removed it first of course. If you do it remind them to mask the prop rods. that stuff is sticky! So now luggage and stuff will not go on a side to side sleight ride when going around corners.
