Was looking for one of these when I was contemplating a new liner. Now, this one has been on for almost a year with no serious problems. I did lightly cut into it when jambing a sharp shovel blade in the bed removing mulch. Only shaved it a little and didn't go to metal. Not enough to request a repair from the installing dealer. It has become a little dull compared to its original sparkle when new, but weathering will have that effect (still sparkles under the bed rail where rain, etc. has not reached it). Items don't slip in the bed and am real pleased with its appearance. Well, enough talk, here's the over-the-rail sample photo:

I had the exact same thing done to my '01
3500 the same day I took delivery of it!
Line-X has an excellent product. It's been
about a year since it was applied and so far
no signs of lifting, but some fading where
the sun hits it. Still looks great though!

I had my liner sprayed over the tailgate about two inches. Best tailgate protector I ever found. I do like the looks of this one also.

I am very happy with mine. I had it run about an inch and a half down the tail gate because my topper weather stripping wore through the paint along the tailgate on my last truck. I have not managed to mess the thing up yet.

Ok guys, question for those of you with black bedliners, especially if you live in the South. I have to redo my liner, and I have the choice of Rhino (which is what I had to begin with) in red, for a cost of $600. Or Line-X, in black, for a cost of $350. My preference would be to stay with the Rhino as I like it's softer texture - things don't slide on it as much. However, $250 difference speaks volumes. That having been said, I think I'm going to go with the Line-X, if one question can be answered satisfactorily. Does the black bedliner get hot in the summer? Keeping in mind I'm in south Texas of course. Don't try to sell me on the Line-X, I'll readily acknowledge it's a great product, I just prefer the Rhino for the reason stated above. Thanks for the input.

Randy, I had mine done last year about the middle of the summer here (about 120 outside temp). I was woried about them getting hot also, but they were never hotter than the sheetmetal, and sometimes cooler. If you are not sure just park farther out in the parking lots, and keep your eyes open for trucks with the spray in liners. Most car alarms won't go off just by touching the bed #ad

High Voltage: Thanks for the info on the spray. I had completely forgotten about that. If the wife doesn't want anything "nasty" hauled in the near future, may be a good time.

klenger: I understand the stick thing. Like winter here, but as you say, summer is on its way.

Randy J: $250 is $250. However, I understand your point of less slipping. I chose the Line-X because it really didn't slip (tested a few with a tool box) and in MHO, looked better than the Rhino. Now, that said, I only looked at my local Rhino dealer's lot (caught a few in the lot right after being sprayed waiting for their owners to pick them up). I was horified at the sloppy appearance and drips I saw in every bed. Made my decision very easy.

My bed doesn't get really hot. As Charles points out, "not hotter than the sheet metal". But, my sheet metal go so hot last summer your couldn't touch it without getting a second degree burn! Don't remember my bed ever getting that hot though. Is a hot bed a real problem? Your uses my constitute a "yes". Best of luck to you!

Living in Colorado, I haven't seen anything green for a while. All of our trees look like dead sticks. Oh well, spring is comming.

Thanks for the replies guys. I used to have black diamond plate bed rail caps, and they would get way too hot to touch. Made it real uncomfortable reaching into the bed for something. I just don't want to have that again, as well as have the bed get too hot. Not just for me, but for my pooch that rides in the bed also!

My dog doesn't mind it at all and he doesn't slide around #ad
I love the line-X. When mine was put in he sanded the bed and it was sprayed in hot. Would the dealer be able to spray over the old liner ? The dealer here in Colorado said he has to spray on steel ! He said he had to use an air chisel to remove the old liner to spray in the new stuff, but a new side was put in the truck and the old side was taken out with a torch.
