linkage adjustment

Is there an adjustment for shift linkage? I must pull up on the shift lever to put the key in lock position. This problem developed because some dummy hit a bale of hay in the roadway. After making contact with the bale the trans jumped into neutral and has not been the same since. I sure don't want to go to the dealer if I can solve the problem myself.

The lever on the steering column under the hood is adjustable. It may have slipped, but most probably something got bent.



After you adjust it the shift indicator may be off. If it's like my '95 there is a little lever on the steering column under the dash that has a little cable looped over it. Bend the lever until the indicator indicates which gear you are in. Use pliers because the little lever is not too sturdy and you may bend it too much with your fingers.
