Why is it when you click on a link someone puts in a post to an old thread that you have to log in again when it opens a new window? Just one of those little things that tend to aggravate me as I get older. ;)

Do you have to log in when you first bring up TDR, or are you already logged in? You are probably blocking cookies from being set so your login is not recognized.

If you go to the security settings you can adjust them - tools, internet options, then the security tab.

It sounds like 2 problums , 1 when you put in your password you may not be checking the box that asks if you want it to remember it, then 2 when you go to a link in a post[Opens new window] and then when done close out that window and you should be back to where you linked from. Also it could be security settings.

Another possibility is that the links you are clicking on are at a different web address than you use. If your logged in at https://www.turbodieselregister.com and you click on a link in someones message at https://www.turbodieselregistry.com or http://www.tdr1.com you won't be logged in there. Cookies are web address specific. Once you log in at that address (and assuming you click on the remember me box and you don't have security issues causing that to not work) then you should be logged in there the next time. If it's the same address that you are normally using or after you log in the next time your still not logged in then read the sticky thread at the top of the website forum that says "Having trouble staying logged in?" and do the items in there.
