Hey there! I noticed a few thousand miles ago that I had a "Little" wetness from the rear of the oil pan gasket where it meets the Trans Bell housing ( Manual trans). Not even enough tot make a drip so I just have been degreasing , wiping it off, every oil change and does not seem to be getting worse. DOes anyone else see anything similar? THanks! Oo.

I've had 5 CTD's from '92 to '03 and everyone of them seeps a little oil from the rear of the oil pan gasket. Just like you I clean it up during oil changes... I hate oil leaks but these have never been bad enough to drip.

Two fixes: (1) put a drip bottle on the crankcase vent hose (I use a medium sized pill bottle with a large hole for the hose surounded by a series of small holes to vent... push the hose thru the big hole then use a cable tie to keep it from falling off) and (2) tighten the oil pan bolts. I found my pan bolts to be very loose, some just finger tight.

I didn't use a torque wrench... I just took a short 3/8" ratchet with the right sized socket and snugged them up. No more oil accumulation on the bottom of the bell housing!

My sweats oil in the front of the oil pan esp. in the winter. I tried snugging the bolts and it still does it. Has done it since it was new. A little wipe whenever I grease the tie-rods and its fine.
