I am unsure what purpose this motor serves is in the attached photos. Just recently, it cycles on when the key is in the ignition, runs for 5 to 10 seconds, then shuts off, then does the same thing a minute or so later. AC and heat are off when this happens. I know its this motor because I can feel it whirr when I put my hand on it. It is a little motor on the passenger side of the engine compartment right in front of the ECM. Just trying to figure out what this motor does and what I might need to do to get it to stop doing this.

I'm pretty sure that's the vacuum pump that operates the hvac doors and etc. diesels don't create vacuum in their intakes, so it must come from a pump. I've never heard of them acting up with warning.

Vacuum pump for the cruise control. Start tracing lines and connections, they rot out after a while. If they look good plug it off at the pump to see if it will hold with just the pump.

Thanks everybody, I really appreciate your help. I will start looking at the vacuum lines and connections and go from there.

It was a hole in a vacuum line. The hole was right in front of the fuel filter, who knows, may have knicked it or something when changing filters. Lines seems really brittle. Anyhow, until I can get into an auto parts store to get parts to splice in a new section of line, I put some liquid electrical tape on it as a stopgap measure and it stopped the vacuum pump from cycling.

Man, that really sucked.

You's better be grinning, its a nasty day outside, gotta have some fun somehow.

Same here, started raining this morning at only 17 degrees. Needless to say we are stuck here until it warms up later.

Mike,

68 Degrees right now, but still uber humid out, lots of precip yesterday.

Took Dodge in this AM to get NEW Michelins re-balanced, watched re-do original off by OUNCES!!!!!!!!!!! on several wheels. They should be embarrassed for that negligence. Grumble grumble.
