Little Silver Thing

Does anyone know what the little silver thing that looks similar to a flasher that plugs in just above the emergency brake release controls under the dash. This is on a 93 and it gets pretty warm. We've had trouble with the battery losing charge and we think we have traced this to be the culprit.

That should be for the "glow ring" around the ignition key. It will get warm if you're working on the truck with the door open. My glow ring doesn't light up, but the relay still gets hot.



An easy way to track down a current draw is to remove the positive battery cable, then hook a test light between the cable end and battery post. With the door closed, pull fuses one by one until you find the circuit that is causing the draw (test light goes out). It may be necessary to unplug the stereo to rule out the memory/clock since it will draw enough juice to light the test light.
