Left Upton Mass. thur the 10th of Jul around 11:00pm. Arrived in Renton WA. on Sun the 13th about 7:00pm.

Observations.

Found those higher altitudes seemed to give more power, but drove the EGT's higher quicker. I pulled an 8'x16' enclosed cargo brick, loaded to the gills(10k approx), also had a 500lbs bike in the back. I never let egt's get over 1300*, when I stopped I had the infamous "GOLDEN TURBO". I had to back out of it many times to keep the egt's at 1200* on sustained grades. If not for the egt's I could have set any speed I wanted, where before my mods I would have been in 5th going up these hills. Still have a 750 mile trip to Sac Fri.

Anyone have problems with their POS stock mirror glass falling off?

When to two different dealers on the way here, both said "sorry if the glass is missing or broken we can't warantee it" huh. At the time I was still under the 36k factory warantee. Well 22. 00 at the local glass shop fixed that problem. The glass is held on with three little pieces of double sided tape. Fell off doing 70 mph so I couldn't exactly go back and get it.

I would not recommend the III's to anyone who plans on towing heavy, especially not towing at higher elevations. The Comp (no pump wire) helped alot on power but didn't seem to have much influence on egt's. Along with the golden turbo, I noticed my exhaust manifold was slightly changed in color, which would indicate to me it reached temps unknown before. I had never had it above 1150* before this.

By the way the South Bend performed flawlessly.

Anyone experience any loss of longevity after browing their turbo?

Towing along at 75mph hit 210* in the nv5600, new synchromesh in there too. Anyone think this is too hot?

Worst fuel mileage = 8. 89mpg

Best fuel mileage = 11. 8mpg

Sounds like you put in some pretty long days. That is why I hate higher elevations. I have had to get clear down to first gear and go very slow just to keep EGT manageable. But when you are at 7,000 ft and out side temp is 103, what can you do especially when I usually am grossing over 24K when towing.

lost mirror, too.

Cruising @ about 60mph, towing mirror glass fell out. Had about 38,000 miles on it then. DC said they'd be happy to sell me the WHOLE mirror assembly. Had to shop around some, finally got it fixed for around $20 @ a local glass shop.

Seems like crappy mileage

 Is it usually that way? What do you get empty? Just wonderin hope mine isnt that bad loaded:eek:

19-21mpg's unloaded.

With the enclosed cargo brick, I have the aerodynamics of a, yep you guessed it, brick.

its 8' wide and about 9' tall, so it provides a good wind screen.

$21. 79 at speedy glass in Renton, WA. They had to order but they get 3 deliveries per day. That price was installed and not with double sided sticky tape. I pried at my other mirror, I figured if it was going to break, I was going to break it, but it seems fine.

be best to get rid of that stock Ex. Manifold before it cracks. Get a ATS 3 piece manifold. I know it is expensive but that is what is on the bigger cummins like the N-14 and ISX. I know I drive them every day. It is just like the 3 piece ATS. the one piece is another way of DC saving a buck.

I have the 6 speed so I have 1 more gear in the middle of you and I am getting a toybox trailer soon and it is about 10-11 K all loaded up and I have the SB clutch, Edge EZ and A Bluechip box. ... . I plan on in March next year doing a 1000 mile trip to texas from Salt LAke City here.

I have the 6 speed also. Do you have any intake mods?

Any exhaust mods?

I'll probably be getting a scotty II soon hopefully that will help.

Does anyone have my mods with the Hx-40? Does it help with egt's pulling hills?

I have the Dam-air by Air Bulldog. I tis a lower spoiler that has a 4" tube to come up to the Stock airbox. I use the stock opening but foam sealed around it so the front fender air gets to that as well as the fron spoiler air. It seems to help some but you need to be going pretty good to get some benefits,

I have a straight through 4" Exhaust with the Allied truck muffler. That is the Rip Rook system. And I also have the Jacobs E-brake Elbow now.
