Left Upton Mass. thur the 10th of Jul around 11:00pm. Arrived in Renton WA. on Sun the 13th about 7:00pm.
Observations.
Found those higher altitudes seemed to give more power, but drove the EGT's higher quicker. I pulled an 8'x16' enclosed cargo brick, loaded to the gills(10k approx), also had a 500lbs bike in the back. I never let egt's get over 1300*, when I stopped I had the infamous "GOLDEN TURBO". I had to back out of it many times to keep the egt's at 1200* on sustained grades. If not for the egt's I could have set any speed I wanted, where before my mods I would have been in 5th going up these hills. Still have a 750 mile trip to Sac Fri.
Anyone have problems with their POS stock mirror glass falling off?
When to two different dealers on the way here, both said "sorry if the glass is missing or broken we can't warantee it" huh. At the time I was still under the 36k factory warantee. Well 22. 00 at the local glass shop fixed that problem. The glass is held on with three little pieces of double sided tape. Fell off doing 70 mph so I couldn't exactly go back and get it.
I would not recommend the III's to anyone who plans on towing heavy, especially not towing at higher elevations. The Comp (no pump wire) helped alot on power but didn't seem to have much influence on egt's. Along with the golden turbo, I noticed my exhaust manifold was slightly changed in color, which would indicate to me it reached temps unknown before. I had never had it above 1150* before this.
By the way the South Bend performed flawlessly.
Anyone experience any loss of longevity after browing their turbo?
Towing along at 75mph hit 210* in the nv5600, new synchromesh in there too. Anyone think this is too hot?
Worst fuel mileage = 8. 89mpg
Best fuel mileage = 11. 8mpg
