Load capacity of tailgate?

Does anyone know what the load capactiy is for our tailgates with all the OE hardware? My DC dealer has no idea and seems to think that it's a number that I can't get. Hence, I turn to the wizards of the rams... Thank you in advance.

I had a 900 Lb safe on mine. No problem.
I dont think I'd go much heavier than that.

i had a fully dressed 1970 383 big block chrysler engine on one side of mine , still opens and closes ok .

I had a 2,000 pound UPS strattled on mine one day for a while and it seemed ok, also I don't think I would worry abou tthe hardware after hearing about a guy dragging his 5th wheel by the tailgat because of a tire co. screw up.

Yup,that was me. Tire dealer didn't put the pin in nor hook up the safety chains on my 28' flatbed gooseneck,I made it about a mile. I didn't know they took the trailer off or why they needed to in the first place. Ripped the hinges off and bent the tailgate into a L,but the cables held and I pulled the 2200lb trailer 200 ft by the cables to get it off the road. The safety pin with it's keeper installed was laying in the bed. One tire monkey lost his job that day and the tire dealer paid $600 for new tailgate plus $300 to paint it. The cables were the only good parts left.
