Problems with fifth wheel travel trailers

Cab over vs TT

i am having a hard time figuring out if i am hauling within my load limits without actually getting on a scale; i have hauled approx. 4000 lb. of rock in the bed of truck with another 1000 lb. s in a trailer (probably another 400# tongue weight) and the rear axle rates at about 7300 lbs. . How much curb weight is on the rear unloaded and how much of an evenly distributed bed load weigh on each axle approximately (percentage-wise). Any advice would be appreciated

As I recall, the '96 3500 4x4 auto transmission was rated for a 9,700 pound trailer, about 4,500 pounds payload in the bed. I'd say you were within manufacturers suggested limits. I believe the max load on the rear axle is 7,500 pounds, front axle 4,850 pounds.

Put it on the scale. Where ever you got your rocks from must have a scale. If not there are many places that you can find a scale. Grizzly
