So I am need of a new set of rubber. I just had a BFG AT (d's) seperate and belts come thru the tread. I have been running them for 2 sets now, they have neen OK but do not like gravel with heavy loads. So I am looking at a set of Load Range "E" tires in a 285. It looks like our choices are, Terra Grapplers, BFG AT, Good Year Wranglers (Silent armour) and Toyo M55's. there are also a few mudders out there but I prefer a AT type of tire. Any input would we welcomed.

Toyo M-55's.

After experiencing tire failure with my Bridgestone AT's and constant vibration and balancing problems with my BFG KO's,I turned to Toyo for a solution. Problem solved. Aside from a little more noise than I'd like(singing between 40-50mph) these tires rock. Vehicle has a smoother ride and no vibes at any speed. I'm sold on Toyo. I paid $199. 00 ea.

So far, I've been generally satisfied with my recent install of TOYO M55's - they are pretty quiet on the road, only a slight whine at freeway speeds (only have them on the rear wheels so far).

BUT, I am a bit concerned as to what appears to be rapid wear - not all that many miles so far, and I detect measurable tread wear at the center of the tread pattern. I suspect I may be running too much PSI at 80 Lbs. , so have backed off to 65 Lbs now that our RV towing season is over - but I still carry enough weight over the rear axle to weigh in at about 3500 Lbs on the rear wheels...

Dunno yet about actual effectiveness in snow/ice/mud, but might get some experience in a few days on our trip down to Lodi California for Thanksgiving... ;)

I've burned through several sets of tires much sooner than I should (like, 25K miles, give or take) and so when I went shopping for new ones this fall, I wanted a mileage warranty. They just aren't offered on 285 E rated tires. Except the Goodyear Silent Armour. 40K warranty. I'd have bought them if I could have gotten them. But a recent strike at GY made them unavailable. Had to opt for something else for now.

I loved my M55s, but wore them out before 30K. Haven't tried any of the other's mentioned, but I looked hard at the Terra Grapplers. But this time I decided on the Bridgestone Revos. The price was too good to pass up even though they are D rated.

Thank you all for replies. I am not sure how good any of the waranties really are. My problem has mostly been blow outs and broken belts, wera out hasn't been an issue. i am curious about the Goodyear Silent Armour, Although I know the M55's are a tough tire.

I to tried to buy the Silent Armour. But settled on the BFG AT/KO 285. The shop has ballanced them twice and I still get a wobble at 70mph. BFG has no trial period. Bridgestone has a 90 day trial. If I had to do it over I would go with the Bridgestone Dueller series in 285 "E" rating AT's. Goodluck...

Also liked my M-55s. Had 4 flats on 6ply (rocks, metal, and what all). Ran 55psi front. 50psi rear empty. Up 10 psi with trailer. I understand M-55s have that belt down the middle that makes the tire tread look bad in that part before the tires need replassing. (one of the things that make it rock proof). Is the tread thinner? Not sure. Les Schwab said it would still be good but not as usable in snow. Not sure all this is true because I sold that truck. New tires now run $1000 per set of four on sale. Not cheep
