Good Morning,

I'm about due for my first oil change, I'd like to get it done this weekend. I ordered some Fleetguard oil filters from Geno's, but they are back-ordered for 7-10 days. Is there a local source for Fleetguard filters? I checked with the usual car-care places and didn't find any (no surprise). Would Napa or a truck stop carry them? I live in Connecticut, so any local sources would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion CTRam. I called Fleetpride (there are a few near me) and none of them had the part in stock. In fact none of the stores in the Northeast did. .

Just as a sanity check, I'm looking for Fleetguard Part# LF16035 Stratapore filter, right?

Thanks again,

-Josh-

You can also use the LF3894(?) from the 2nd Gen trucks. Only difference is the flutes on the bottom of the filter.

F. y. i Mopar Oil Filter 5083285aa Is Made By Fleetguard Along With The Diesel Fuel Filters. I Buy Mine From A Local Heavy Equipment Dealer, Or Just Take One Off The Shelf At Work

I use the Fleet Pride store in Waterbury. They don't always have the filters I need in stock, but they can always have them the next day. Even the the marine specific fuel filters I need.

So I call ahead before I run down there... being it's five minutes away from where I work I hate to make the trip for naught :-laf

If you go to Cummins Metropower make sure you have the engine serial number and cpl... . they don't even like to sell a quart of oil without those numbers!

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I didn't realize the Mopar was made by Fleetguard. .

When I called Fleet Pride I asked for Part number LF16035 which is the Stratapore Filter number from the Cummins site. I guess I should have asked for 3949561 as TT and TMT suggested. What's the difference between the two filters?

BTW- I'm in Oxford, CT. . I'll hopefully meet up with you guys at a Coffee night one of these days.

Thanks for your patience, I appreciate the help.

Thanks, CTRam,

I didn't know about FleetPride--I found one not far from my home in Baton Rouge. The closest Cummins dealer to me is in Metairie, 75 miles away.

I would hazard to guess they are one and the same; the LF16035 is the FLeetgard number; the 3949561 is the CUmmins number. And I'll confer with JLEONARD- the guys at Cummins cant seem to find anything without an engine serial number (and I dont have a data tag). I've made them look stuff up by CPL before, but they dont like it... .

Thanks again to everyone who replied. . to follow up, I bought a replacement MOPAR oil filter from the dealer (didn't realize these were Fleetguard filters) and actually bought the oil form them as well as it was reasonably priced and I was already there. .

With the help of my brother , who was nice enough to help out and make sure I didn't screw up, everything went smooth. . I did have to go and buy an oil filter attachment for my ratchet, as the one I ordered from Geno's hadn't arrived, but other that that it went fine. It may not sound like a big deal but this is the first oil change I've done on anything other than my lawn tractor :)

Also, it may be worth noting that the engine is noticeably quieter at idle, and on the highway. At first I though I was imagining it, but my wife commented as well.

Thanks again for the help.
