Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I need some help!
I am now in dire need of replacing my VP and LP. I have been nursing the darn fuel system, trying to buy time ... but that's over now! Just the other day, I left home with 14 PSI at idle and returned (less than 30 miles round trip) with 10 PSI at idle. The gauge is somewhat erratic now, showing different pressures at different times. I get a surging sound at cruising speed and I'm not hitting the boost I should ... probably because the VP is not fueling correctly (it's been throwing codes for a few months now).
I found a place called Diesel World in Santa Ana that rebuilds VP's (two day turnaround). They can also order a replacement for $960, but the catch is it takes a few days. I was hoping to find something this weekend, so I could get it installed Monday. Do any of you OC/LA owners know of somewhere local that might have a pump ... preferably in the same price range? I tried Cummins, but they quoted me $1900 for a reman! TIA!
