Hi all,

Anyone have a photo of the location of the single grease zerk on the driveshaft for the front axle, (2010 RAM, CTD, 4x4)? I need service and want to be able to talk to the service tech with some knowledge and a photo if needed.

Any other service concerns on this model? It has 5000 miles, 2500 of which were towing a 5th wheel to Yellowstone NP and back. I have not received any messages on the engine as of yet.

My last RAM was a 1998 so I am a little behind the curve with knowledge of the new models.

TIA,

Dean

Also, many trucks do NOT have the grease fitting, as they were fitted with "lifetime" bearings. For instance, my 2005 4x4 has a sticker in the engine compartment warning me to grease the 4x4 shaft ( more specifically, you are greasing the "cardan" joint... it is a double u-joint with a small button depression which accepts a specific needle type grease fittting), but there is NO fitting on my cardan joint, even on close inspection. The dealer who does the oil changes on my truck told me that many trucks were fitted with "lifetime" bearings that did not need grease, thus no fitting was installed. Personally, I doubt that the bearings will last a lifetime (unless of course it is the lifetime of the bearing itself... :-laf) and I would rather have a greasable joint, but I don't, so there is nothing to grease;

Like the post said, do a search on cardan joint or front driveshaft... there are some excellent posts with pictures of what to look for... just remember, you might not find it even if you look closely.
