I have a 1998. 5 auto ( of course) the TC keeps coming in and out of lockup. I commute on a succkky congested road with bluehairs ( 2 lane ) and for now it does not bother me that much. It is a detraction on a very nice truck. The dealer has had it for a long time. A DC tech even looked at it. I even got a case number. I do not want to trade in. Way too many goodies already installed. I checked the TPS at the PCM (pin 23 ??) and get between . 493 and 2. 9 volts from idle to WOT. The dealer has replaced almost every box. And checked all the connections. I do have a pulse ratio adapter for the wheel size change. This did not cause the problem. It started later. I would like to know is this the right voltage? the manual says to use the scan tool for the reading ( 1 volt ). I have a cheap digital VOM. Could the crank or cam position sensor do this ( the problem went away for a week after changing the lift pump then came back) I als have a rough Idle condition. The dealer will fix that. I just want the truck to not have demons. I want them excorcised! I want to use the truck without this issue. DC spent 40 hours troubleshooting so far. Any help out there would be good. As soon as I fix the truck "brains", I am getting on massdiesels list for a new trans. 60,000 miles on truck - close enough to write off the DC amateur warranty and start doing some fun stuff.
