Got it wired today... I used a push-on push-off switch from a computer and turned the dummie switch next to my OD off into my new lockup control.

My question now, since I don't have alot of power, when do those of you running one engage the TCC??

I ran it from a dead stop and it does alright but lugs it a bit. My speedometer is off +9% so it shifts lower in the RPM band than it should.

2-3 and 3-4 shifts are wild now... . Feels alot like the ATS I rode in last summer..... Just with alot less power handling capability. :-laf

I believe i'm going to invest in a trans temp gauge before much longer.

Thanks to those of you with the knowledge contributed and other help.

Well, You Sound Alot Like I Did About 3 Months Ago. Does Feel Alot Better Accelarating Huh?

Well To The Point-with Your Mileage, Huge Tires, Etc I Wouldnt Do Up Or Down Shifts Under Lockup Without A Billet Input Shaft In Cause Itll Snap It. I Dont Believe That Even At Stock Power Level That The Torque Conv Will Last Long--mine Lasted About 3 Weeks With 275rwhp On The Stock T/c Before I Fried It. I Have One Of Dave Goerends Bada** Trannies Now And The Lockup Shifts Are Even Wilder.

To Answer Your Question Id Only Use It To Help Decelerate Downhill, And When Your Cruising In Town At Around 30-45mph(really Helps With Unlocking, locking, unlocking Etc).

Also If You Plan On Adding More Power, Then Plan On Upgrading Your Shaft, T/c And V/b. Oh And Getting The Temp Gauge Would Be A Good Move.

Hope This Helps,

Mike Rector

I only use mine while going down hills so that I get a little engine brake effect. Well, sometimes :-laf I do locked shifts, but I run through the gears manually with OD locked out, then when I'm in 3rd and up past 2200 rpms, I'll let it go into OD. It's fun, but tough on the transmission. The one thing I wish I could do is lock it in 2nd. Mine only locks in 3rd and OD. Any suggestions?

I need to update my sig... I downsized to 33 inch tires a few weeks ago. The point still stands however. .

I've done 3 or four starts with the switch on to see how it does... . Other than lugging a bit, it's alot fastr... I have to pay more attentiond to was it's doing speed wise...

I've got half a mind to disable it. . I don't have the funds to do a transmission build... . I really did this just to probe and see what this trans could do. I knew it wasn't by any means even a semi permanent solution...

Sure is fun though. .

AMINK--A VB UPGRADE WILL ALLOW YOU TO USE LOCKUP IN ANY GEAR AND NOT JUST IN DRIVE!! BUT AS MENTIONED BEFORE VERRYYY HARD ON STOCK PARTS!!

OH AND I HAD A GOOD SUGGESTION FROM- I BELIEVE tp0D IS TO USE A MONENTARY SWITCH THAT IS HAND HELD THIS WAY YOU CANT FORGET TO UNLOCK T/C AS YOU ARE COMING TO A STOP. ;)

I did a dunrite v-b and have never rebuilt the trans two weeks ago I had a transmission shop install a stock converter(dayco) and new flex plate (I was going to sell the truck) I run my truck locked up all the time from a stop when I get a truck length I hit the switch and let off and shift. my V-B has a sugnificant amount of line pressure. on a fast start I will skip 1st and lock up 2nd at about 25-28mph wide open and it lights the one tire up preitty good. I will break something some day but I have been punnising my truck this way for 80k a V-B will buy you a lot of time to save for a good rebuild hope this helps

dunrite advertises in the TDR they have a good product and I have seen there tc's stand up to unbeliveable abuse WV has its share of cowboys. I seen a guy pull a D4H cat dozer (high track 25,000+lbs) on a 5th wheel with a dunrite single disk tc in a 400+hp dually and he was not nice to that truck doing it. he moved the dozer about 30 miles down the road and I thought he would not make it the truck is still together and hes still an idiot.

I don't think a stock trans is gonna last too long shifting locked, but it'll be fun while it lasts! :-laf

I had a Mystery Switch in my truck before I got my trans upgraded, and... ok I did shift locked a few times, but when I got my ATS they let me watch the rebuilding process and they showed me all the re-engineered parts they use which enables the trans to hold up to locked shifts--there are a lot of them.

I think the biggest culprit is the stock TC--the clutch material is pretty marginal in several ways. There isn't a lot of clutch area, so it will slip, especially with a lot of miles on it. The cover itself is stamped steel, and warps under a lot of heat. The clutch material itself is not very good stuff and under a lot of heat will degrade and start circulating through the trans, plugging up all those little worm holes that are so important. And the stock stator is also crummy, but that's another story!

I hate my stock converter I was going to sell the truck so I put one in but I have to keep it now I did a head gasket and the new turbo will be here mon.

when my truck found out I was selling It It started one repair after another I will not sell this truck now I have to much invested its been a good one but It really don't like the idea of getting sold I hpoe she straightens out this is costing me big money $2000 in 3 weeks is hard to throw down. good luck

Hey Kyle,

Glad to hear your enjoying it  Go on and turn the fuel up now ;) It will force you to do the transmission :-laf I have changed a lot of things on my truck, but the trans is still my favorite Oo.

"Somewhere... over the rainbow... " Just wait until I get a summer job... . School is almost out... My little Bro is handling the Body work and color change so i'll be free to start investing in power mods... .

I'm going to unhook the ground on the switch and just leave all else wired. I was in hopes lockup wouldn't be so violent... I messed with the AFC also and it has more power (long story) so I think forcing the trans to do something isn't the best idea for this poor boy.

Fun while it lasted though. ;)
