Does anyone know if there are any Lockers made for the Dana S110 axle on the 4500?

I can't fine any info on them when searching the web.

Don't quote me, but I believe there is a carrier available with an air actuated diff lockout, your going to have to change the whole carrier though. Try a heavy truck drivetrain shop, like fleetpride.

Yikes! change out the entire carrier. No thanks. I'm suprised that there is no locker option for the S110.

When you use the word "locker" are you referring to an anti-spin or traction locking differential?

I just looked at the Ram website and the "build your own" feature and was surprised that I could not find a limited slip rear differential option for a Ram 4500. I had not noticed that previously. Ram 3500s which use the AAM rear axle offer a limited slip option but I guess the Dana S110 used in 4500/5500 models does not offer that feature.

My 2009 4500 4X4 has limited slip rear-end. Can't imagine not having it, particularly with the two-wheel drives.

Well, I'm confused now. I wonder why I couldn't find the limited slip option on the 2011 Ram 'build your own" feature?

Letter "S" after 110 on the tag on the rear end itself denotes limited slip from Dana... . Don't have any info. concerning any locker availability...

Dana offered the S110 axle assembly with limited slip feature so it should still be offered as an option on Ram 4500/5500 trucks. Perhaps Ram has accidentally omitted that line item on the 2011 "build your own" website.

Here is Dana's spec sheet: http://www2.dana.com/pdf/WESM-0060.PDF

Must have been asleep at the wheel on this one... . "L" after the 110 on the build tag denotes limited slip... .

I'm refering to something like a Detroit Locker ... a traction locking differential. Even something like I have on my Kubota where I can step down on a peddle and lock the two rear wheels together.

Nothing aftermarket as far as I know, this axle was not used in Dodges until they came out with the chassis cab, the locker option that Dana offered was the same style that large trucks use, with a switch and air line plumbed into the trucks air system, Since this axle went into small Freightliner FL70's and Small Internationals... .

Dodge definitely does not offer a "locker" option on any differential.

I have no idea if it is offered or could be retrofitted into the S 110 differential. I didn't see anything about that feature on the Dana spec sheet I posted above.

Upon further reading..... once I enlarged the "drive axle identification" page there is lots of options fron Dana..... probably only cost effective if original equipment... . Dodge offers no locker, just like HB sez..... Also, if you ever get your kubota bound up with the diff. lock you are only going straight ahead or straight back, probably not a good option for a pickup... .

Fatcat the air operated locker would be nice. . a Detroit Locker when it disengages on turns is rough . . and in snow or ice its tough. A Detroit locker is a carrier any how. You mentioned getting a locker without changing the Carrier etc. I don't think thats is possible even on the pickups. . as Detroit Lockers and ARB's change the carriers too.

I can't imagine offering any config of C&C w/out limited slip. I really like the way mine operates, although I have never broken the rear tires loose and not sure I want to. A locker on heavy trucks... mine is about 11. 3K lbs fully fueled, all tools, me, wife and 80lb Lab/Germ Shepard mix. I have found the hard 19. 5s require finessing in real slipery condistions. Didn't drive it when we had ice so the kamkazi drivers in our area would crash into it. Have been in slipery mud though and had to ease the throttle to keep from spinning. Real heavy trucks w/ skinny AT tires need to take care or get bad stuck.

Anyway, my two cents.

The rear axle on my 2011 5500 4x4 is a Dana S111L which is equipped with a Detroit Tru-Trac.
It is a gear operated limited slip (no clutches to wear or special additives needed) and is listed on my window sticker as standard equipment. Hope this helps.

S110 & S130 Series

This is the one that has been offered on the 4500/5500 since they were introduced. I think limited slip was an option on the earlier ones. It's good to know the locking feature is standard now.

The 2011 Brochure shows the Anti-Spin as standard for all models.

The Detroit Tru-Trac is the only LSD I can find for the S110.
