With the price of fuel today, I think it's time to get a Locking Fuel Cap.

Anyone have any reccomendations Brand or feature wise ?

Get a locking fuel door... not a locking fuel cap. The locking caps can be twisted off easilly!

I haven't seen one yet that couldn't be easily removed by either squeezing or prying.

Some guys around here stole diesel from delivery trucks by poking holes in the tanks.
It would take less time and effort to drill a hole in your plastic tank than it would to unscrew the factory cap and siphon. Save your money, you can replace several tanks of fuel for what 1 new tank would cost.

IMO its a waste of money unless you want to prevent sabotage. Try getting a hose past your check-valve...
Their just drilling the tanks now.

They just catch what they can about 3 to 4 gallons in a bucket and then move to another truck or car Depending on how much they want on that evening. We aint dealing with engineering students here.

Castile Doctrine

The new law in Texas may not discourage most from drilling tanks. The first time a fuel thief gets fatally shot it may turn a few heads.

Drilling the tanks, what do they use to catch 30 some gallons of fuel ?

UMMmmm - well, they COULD be very thoughtful thieves, and carefully thread a proper plug in to stop any flow above what they are equipped to carry...

OR, they could perhaps care LESS about the excess just flowing out onto the ground...

Which do YOU think they're most likely to do? ;):-laf:-laf

I've taped 2 $100 bills to the bottom of my tank with a note to take the money and leave my tank alone. Think that will work? ;):-laf:-laf

Most likely they will take your $200 and your fuel too. They may not be as stupid as they may appear.

... and the locking door can be pried off easily.

I got my locking cap from the my Dodge dealer at a better price than I could have any where else and It's the proper cap for my truck.

The combo of garage-kept vehicles, and locking fuel cap has kept us safe so far - but it's a sure thing fuel theft will eventually become a big issue...

I understand it's already a problem for ag tractors and such that used to be safe left out in the fields - but no more...
