I'd like to put a locking fuel cap on my truck and was wondering if anyone knows where I could find a higher security system than the standard off the shelf caps??... . or I'm I just barking up a tree... =/

I have one of the standard locking fuel caps from Geno's. All it does is keep people honest. If they want to steal your fuel, most likely they will puncture the fuel tank which is plastic. I don't see the point in any high tech cap. I am not sure a locking cap makes much of a difference, but I have one anyway just in case...

My opinion is most thieves are not very smart and if they want to put Diesel in their cars/trucks then good for them. I do not think that most of the people that camp will steel fuel from your truck. If they wanted to steel there is a lot more valuable items around the camp site then fuel in your truck.

I did have a locking gas cap once on one of my vehicles a long time ago nothing but a big problem. Every time my wife would try to fill up she would forget to unlock the cap. She would have to put the fuel hose back into the slot on the pump and go to the car, get keys and then unlock cap.

Just my $0. 02

I've got caps on the car and truck. I got the truck cap from napa when fuel price went through the roof.

Get one, its just a little more insurance to keep the fuel in the tank.
