Maybe someone has addressed this but can manual hubs be added to my 2001 2500 and the current disconnect system made non-functional?I'm trying to reduce the number of spinning components when in 2wd and to make the system more fool proof as well as allowing me to use 2-lo for backing a trailer into a confined area without the crow hopping associated with full lock turns in 4wd. Thanks all in advance for the wealth of advice I'm sure to get.

There is a company, I think it's Dynatrac, that makes a kit that replaces the axleshafts and has manual hubs. But it's expensive. There is a couple of kits that allow you to control the vaccum or uses machanical control of the disconnect. This lets you have 2-low. Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the companies, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the names.

It's really expensive (2k or so) to add lock-outs.

Do a search on 2-low (search is on over at the new server). I went with Bob V's kit, I did research and it is the easiest & fastest install with the fewest moving parts. Good prive too.

Dynatrac does make a kit for Dodges and it is expensive. There are several options availble, it all depends on how much money you have to spend.

The passanger side get's a new one piece axle to eliminate the vacume motor and internals.

It seams as though there were changes to the front spindles/hube between the year models 99 and 00. Last summer when I talked with Dynatrac they were not sure there current kit would fit so I dropped the Idea.

I also bought Bob V's Super Shifter kit and I'm very happy with it. Installation took an easy-going afternoon, and now I have controls for 2WL and my e-brake on my shift knob. Everything needed is included with the kit.
