Trans will go in and out of lockup. It is real bad at 40 to 50 mph. Trans guru says needs reflash from Dodge. Has anyone had this happen to your truck, 44000 miles never towed stock. Thanks in advance John.

You might try to recalibrate the APPS/TPS. Its real easy, here is how to do it. .

Disconnect the batts for a hour or so

Hook them back up and trun the key to the start position but do not start it.

Slowly push the peddle to the floor and let up slowly.

Turn the key off and then start the truck normally.

Sometimes this helps and best of all its free... .

Mine has done the same thing about 3 times now. You will need to change your TPS. I had a transmission shop tell me that I needed an overhaul and that the torque converter was shot and had probably contaminated the whole transmission. I replaced the TPS and got another 50 k miles on the transmission.

It is real easy to replace. It is a little tougher to adjust it if it does not fall within the voltage parameters stated in the service manual.

I carry a spare around with me in my truck since my wife also has a 12 valver.

Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck.

I have a 95 2500 4wd that has done this off and on since about 45k, I know have 175k on the truck. I took to dealer ,they said it was bad TPS and replaced , did not fix the problem. What I did to fix was it was install a lock-up switch that is shown on the TST website. When transmission starts acting up just flip the switch and she is locked.

Been there.........

My 99' did the same thing about 110,000 miles. Went to dealer in Kirbyville, Tx. They reflashed my trans program and has been cured since then, took about 20 minutes. However, from what I have read on here the quality of reflashes varies from dealer to dealer. I trust this dealer and know they understand these trucks. Not all dealers do.

Jeff,

A reflash is an update to the firmware in the computer. I don't think our simple '95 beasts are subject to hot flashes and grumpy spells like the electronic monsters.
