Lockup TC on the 48RE

My old man just purchased a 2004 ctd with the auto. He is under the impression that when in the tow mode, the TC locks up in all gears. Is this true? do you mhave to manually shift down to 2nd and first to achieve lockup in those gears?

Their is no tow mode. There is an option to turn off the O/D. The torque converter locks up in all gears IF you have met DC's pre determined speed. There is always the low line pressure problem when you are off the throttle.

I'm pretty sure the O/D lockout was replaced with the Tow/Haul mode button for the 2004's, at least I read that somewhere.



I have no idea on it's actual functional difference but I would assume it's something different than just the O/D lockout since they went to the trouble of relabeling it.

Well I assume that the button on the end of the shifter that is labeled "Tow/Haul" is a tow haul mode. Of coarse maybe I'm wrong. I know the previous models had the OD on off button, but that is not what I am talking about
