Any chance of seeing a long bed Mega Cab in the future? I got an 8ft Adventurer Camper that won't fit the short bed and two German Shepards that want a fold-down-flat rear seat!#@$%!

Bob

I doubt it. The MegaCab was concocted to take advantage of the Quad Cab long bed frame by stretching the cab and using a short bed, but with the advent of a true Crew Cab long bed in the 4th generation trucks, I suspect Dodge doesn't see enough sales potential to build a frame exclusively for a MegaCab long bed.

Looking on the bright side, a good stretch conversion of your mega-cab to 8' bed would probably cost you a lot less than trading for a new mega cab long bed.

Maybe I was dreaming, but I swear I saw a longbed 2500 at a local dealer a while ago. It was a 2011. I asked the salesman and he told me they were now making them. Am I wrong?

mrtrombley, was it a mega cab or crew cab?

In Ask the Engineers thread they stated that the Mega cab was a low volume sales item and that the tweaking and testing for a long bed was a big investment.

I read the sticker but can't remember if it said one or the other. Just turned 65, so you know what starts to go first! Is it eyes or memory?? I just know it had the larger door and larger space behind the door. And it was an 8' bed.

You probably saw a long bed crew cab which is a bigger cab than the old Gen III quad cab. The crew cab is the replacement for the mega cab which will not be offered in Gen IV trucks.

I would love to convert my mega cab to a long bed. I had a 1500 long bed previously, and the bed was perfect for hauling bikes to the races. Scared to see how much the conversion would cost. Looks like some serious work is done in the process... .

In the meantime I guess I will look for a bed extender :)

what? the mega is alive and well for the 4th gens!

the crew cab is the replacement for the quad cab. the new crew and mega have the same doors, but the mega has about 10 inches of cab behind the door.

there are no mega/long beds from the factory.

Ohh. Sorry for my bad information. I guess I misunderstood what was posted here and thought one or more posts saying there was no mega cab long bed was saying no mega cab at all. In truth I've never paid any attention to mega cabs and wouldn't miss them.

Harvey, do you need a vacation?:-laf No offence by the way, I figure we go back far enough I can pick on you a little. You crack me up:)

Nick

These are both from Precision Bodyline. They are pretty cool but I would swing my corners extra wide:-laf I have also heard that the conversions go for 6-7K.

I want one!Oo. Precision Bodyline: MegaCab LongBed Conversions

Anybody on the forum have this done? What kind of dollars are we talking if you already own the truck?

There are a few who had this done. If you do a search you'll find a few threads. I think the cost was $5-$6k, but that was a few years back. I would do it in a heartbeat if I could afford it. I love the big back seat/storage area but miss the heck out of my long bed.

if you want to impress me.....

make a conversion for my megacab to turn it into suburban bodystyle. i would buy one for my wife and have a pair of megacabs on my driveway.
