Normal Fuel Mileage?

Hey all, I got a question and I can't find an answer to. My truck is getting what I would consider long crank times before starting. I have had at least two instances where I went through two 10 sec crank times (held the key in start for 10 sec intervals) before the engine started. The engine was warm and ambient temps were in the 70's. The truck in most cases had been shut down for less than 30mins. In most cases the truck requires a 2-3 sec turnover before catching, sometimes shorter.

I am beginning to suspect that there is a pin hole leak in my fuel supply line and the line is draining back to the tank. I pulled the coded from the dash and there was a P2262, but that has since cleared. The fuel filter is clean and the dealer can't find anything wrong.

Please help! Is this something that I should be concerned about or a quirk of the 6. 7, because my '01 5. 9L never did this.

Thanks! Vinnie

Mine was doing the same thing. I have "cured" it by turning the key to "on" and waiting a few seconds before trying to crank it. This has eliminated my long-crank problem. ;)

Had random problems with longer than normal cranking. I do what DHuffman does. Turn the key on and then fasten seatbelt. Then start. As long as I do this no long cranking issues.

Maybe someone knows why this works!

I normally go through the whole start cycle (WTS light), if applicable, but when it's 70 out this is just weird (BTW, does it in all temp ranges). I could just jump in my 5. 9L, turn the key and go. I'll give it a try, though. Thanks, hopefully someone else can chime in.
