Well, I think that after today I'm jumpin' in with both feet and joining the Getrag Preservation Society. With help from the one and only Daniel Puckett, disassembly began today. Broken shift fork, syncro ring, and what is left of some shims is what we ended up finding. :{

So I guess that first thing Monday morning I'm gettin' on the horn and ordering parts, that is unless some of you want to send me a pm with the parts that you want to sell me.



Total mileage 312K, and a cream puff, grocery gettin' lifestyle for the last 14 yrs. :-laf

As for letting DP work on things, I'd say that he has had about 10 times as much experience as I workin' on 1st gens.

We will need the good half of a broken 1-2 synchro assembly. Bill? Anyone else? My broken parts went with the 90 when I sold it.

Well I just got off the horn with Zumbrota, ordered bearings, syncros, and 5-R shift fork. After I hung up the phone I remembered the trouble that Michael had, so I called back and made sure to order the shims.



Unfortunally, as Daniel said, I still need a 1-2 syncro ring, they want a small slice of your arm for that one. :-laf

I sold the only spare I had on that. What is the Zumbrota price on the syncro? Looks like that is getting scarce among the used parts pile.

I just got my transmission rebuilt by a local shop. They charged me $350. 00 labor and $475. 00 for new gaskets, bearings and shims, and all new syncros. I also had to have 2 shift forks installed and that set me back $60. 00 each. I am now ready to put the new transmission in the truck and get back on the road.

Chris I talked to Jeremy today. He said his warrenty was like the one interstate batterys uses. It is a depreciating type. You had 1 week left on it. So the settlement would be around $. 89.

Well Philip, thats better of a warranty than I thought that I got! I thought that he gave me the old familiar "bumper warranty", All parts and labor were covered until he couldn't see my bumper any more. :-laf Tell him I'll take the beer. I did get my parts yesterday, all I need is the syncro ring and I'll be back in business.

Yup, that was the 1-2 synchro assembly. Would have doubled his tab if he had gotten it. I am taking care of that issue tomorrow, though. We DO have Bill for a planB, too. Sorry, cant divulge more than that at this time.



Why WOULD he have any probelms with it going back together? This is like my 2nd or 3rd one :-laf
