Reg Cab drivers have the REALEST trucks. ;) It's either in the truck or in the bed! None of that la-la land in the middle
:-laf Ahh so I see then. . its a bed space thing and not a wheel base thing. I was thinking it was a wheel base issue since we were talking about handling. In that case someone should get a regular cab and put on on a QC LB chassis, extend the bed to 10' for the realist of real :D trucks.

Who needs that la-la land in the middle anyway? if you want to haul people buy a Caravan.

I also noticed that when the rearend of my longbed truck breaks loose on ice it seems(to me) that it rotates alot slower

than my previous QC SB truck making it easier to reel it back in.

You refering to the truck I bought or did you have a third Cummins pickup at some point Scrappy? The 01 you traded in has the LB on it.

In the past 10 months I've towed a dbl-axle 16' X 8' cargo trailer approx 13,000 miles with my '03 3500 QC LB SRW. No problems. Something that hasn't been discussed much in the other posts to this thread: A longer bed means more cargo space when towing a TT (travel trailer). If you have a cross-bed cargo box or fuel tank behind the cab, you'll end up with very little bulk cargo space in a short-bed. Granted, the short wheel-base trucks turn more sharply, but our QC LBs are 4 to 5 inches shorter wheel base than Ford or Chev full-size crew-cabs, and have a MUCH smaller turning radius than those trucks; I had an '8 Chev crew-cab LB DRW and it had the turning radius of a light cruiser. I'm happy with the Dodge QC LB and wouldn't want to give up the cargo capacity in exchange for slightly better manuverability. Also, a very comfortable ride when empty and not towing.

Long Bed

I have a 04. 5 Quad Cab 4x4 Long Bed and tow a 33 ft SunnyBrook travel trailer. I have towed it to Florida, Texas and Alaska and I am about to tow it to San Diego all from NE Ohio. I have never run into a maneuverability problem. I have to agree with C. Harlan, if your going to have a truck then get an eight footer, this especially applies for towing a 5th wheeler. When towing a 5th wheel with a short bed you need to spend the extra money on a roll back 5th wheel hitch unless you want to crush the rear corners of your cab in someday when backing into a tight spot. Good Luck!

I have to agree. I wish I'd got a long bed. I have a camper and tow my jeep. My thought was, even with the jeep, the trucks gonna do some off road. Thats turned out to be true, but the off road stuff I do could be done with a long bed and I'd have so much more room for storage or a bigger camper.

As for parking, its a big rig either way.

I love taking my jeep to the mall, hmmm, half a space, jeep should fit fine :)

Not that I have a reg cab. :p Am considering one when I find a dually C/C that fits my requirements! (12v/5sp/4x4)

The Prez must know what is talkn about. :( However, is there a 12v in the CTD world of pick-ups. If so, WHY? :-{}

it all depends on how you use the truck. a builder i work with was complaining one day that his 04 sb didnt have a full 6ft bed. said he almost broke a level trying to slam the tailgate shut. i have be in a few situations where a shorter truck would be nice. parking mostly but you get used to it. as far as off roading, its a full size diesel truck. most dont even offroad there rigs. i offroad with a buddy that drives a std cab ford and a jeep cheroke and do have any problems fitting anywhere. of course im not trying to rock crawl either. i just think about how often i fill the bed and picture what missing 2 feet would be like. i cant have a tool box either.

if you can drive a dually around a srw lb will be a breeze.
