I apologize if this has been discussed, give me a quick kick in the butt and a link if it has. Just bought my 13' Ram and it is a lot different then the 04.5 I used to own. A lot of great stock features my new Tradesman has that the old Laramie didn't. However, the emessions stuff scares me on it. I live in an area where we don't have emessions so that is not an issue. I do not want to "race out", roll smoke or have an obnoxious truck. I am happy with the stock power and torque that my truck has. I do not haul/tow all the time and do frequent short trips in my truck. I didn't know if it would be benifitial to delete certain parts of the truck or leave them. I don't know if I can simply delete the EGR system and DPF system and live with a check engine light. The kits online look to be around $2,200 which is pretty pricey but that includes huge HP increases that I am not interested in. I'm just looking for dependability in the motor without egr and maybe a transmission tune. Thought or ideas?

contact Phill at Anarchy, he can and will write you a single tune that leaves truck at "stock" power but deletes the EGR and the DPF, you will then need to order the parts needed. i know it can be had for well under 2200. i'd say closer to 1G or less even. i got the turbo back system from flow pro. it's really easy install. and the EGR removal wasnt as bad as most said it was took about 45 min.
of all the things to delete, it'd be the EGR...

Will I have to unlock the ECM if I contact Phil from Anarchy still? I'm confused on the "plug and plays" options and having to unlock the ECMs with something called a Bully Dog. Somebody told me I have to buy that to unlock and it's pretty expensive I believe.

I'd leave it stock. The emissions system is warranted for a long time. If it fails after the warranty is up, then you can delete if you want to. The stock after treatment system is pretty problem free. The truck will take care of itself.

I know plenty of guys who have had multiple problems with the def system, including myself.

Maybe your truck is different, cause mine never takes care of itself.

Exactly. The system works fine for the majority of users. Some people on these forums love to blame the exhaust system so they have an excuse to delete their trucks. If you drive the truck the way it was meant to be driven, I can't see why this wouldn't be a long term vehicle. Proper regen is key to these vehicles. If you find that you aren't driving it correctly and you are plugging up your DPF and its not covered under warranty, then you can look into deleting.

What "problems" have you had with your DEF system? I had the P207 malfunction and simply cleared the code and kept driving. No problems.

I don't drive a newer truck with def but all the Ag Equipment and machinery I work on has it. It has its times when it wants to act up. Biggest thing is customers not letting it regen and soot continues to build until I have to do a parked regen and dpf recovery. And that's not covered under warranty. I also can see every time they cancelled a regen or one didn't complete cause they shut it off. Just last week took a tractor 3.5 hrs to clean soot out to 10% she was puffin smoke through the crank case vent tube

Never had the 0207 code. I couldn't tell you how many times I've had P20EE tho. There were two other codes, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Problems have included a bad injector, bad harness, bad sensors and a faulty cat. Def has tested good every time it's been brought in.
