2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission another A/C Question

I'll be putting my 94 2500 in long term storage this week for the next six to nine months while I go on deployment to the gulf. Unfortunately, the only storage available is open air on base. What can I do to make sure the truck suffers as little as possible while I'm gone? Also, the paint (white) on the roof has started to seriously peel, all the way down to the grey under the color. I'll probably get the whole truck painted when I get back, but do I need to worry about rust in the mean time where the paint has peeled away?

Thanks, Jeff

honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much... I believe these trucks have to be taken down to the metal to get the primer/paint to stick properly if they've got the paint coming off in sheets...

even if you don't take it past the primer, a tiny bit of surface rust isn't going to cause any major problem... just take it down to the metal in that area and prime it properly.

Good luck on your deployment.

Jeff, I'd change the oil, fill the fuel tank, add a double dose biocide, block the truck up so the tires were off the ground, disconnect the batteries, tape or in someway secure aluminum foil to all the windows to help with heat buildup and ultraviolet light damage to the interior and not worry about it.

It'll be fine when you get back. The first time you crank it, disconnect the fuel shutoff solenoid and crank it over till you have oil pressure. Everything should be fine otherwise.

Good luck
