I am answering the call to patriotic duty and going on deployment.

I will be parking my truck for about 2-3 months.

What should I do when I park it to help insure it will run ok when I return?

Also what should I do when I return prior to starting and after starting to make sure I don't damage anything?

It will be parked outside in Mass.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

First, Thank You!

Second, When I store the boat for the winter I do the following, which should mostly apply to the truck for long term storage as well.

1 Fresh oil and filter

2 Top off the fuel tank as close to the Base where it will be parked as possible. Full tank = less condensation.

3 I'm not sure about this one but others will chime in: in the 'gas powered boat' we add fuel conditioner and drygas. So the diesel equivalent should do the trick.

4 have some jumper cables handy in case there is a drain on the batts while you are gone. Batts are taken out of the boat and charged a couple of times over the winter not practical in you situation.

5 maybe one of them fancy windshield covers that goes inside on the dash to keep the sun from tearing up the interior.

Be safe on your deployment, and I hope you get to drive some big cool diesel powered military type vehicles. :D

What to do ?

Wal-Mart and others sell STABLE ADD TO FUEL AND RUN FOR AT LEAST FIVE MIN lARGE BOTTLE READ INSTRUCTIONS. Also add some anti jell to fuel and fill to top air up tires max Batt is side house on trickle charge if possible oil as others state face out of wind if possible to keep water out of Eng area . Hope this helps Ron Bissett in LOUISVILLE KYOo.
