It seems that the Air Force was indeed pushing the technology envelope back then. It wasn't until the late 60's that alternators trickled down to civilian vehicles.

Anyone else notice the door accent lines are almost the same as the ones on the second gen trucks? Seems that more things change the more they stay the same.

In reading the description it sounds like they added the alternator as part of their "total rewire". At least that's how I interpreted it.

Those were originally 6 volt system I had one and place a Caddy V8 in it with an Olds auto transmission Converted it to 12v sys It was fast But if you tried to turn around in someones gravel driveway that had a slight incline all that would happen is the wheels would spin. NO wt over rear axle with the heavy caddy bet it would be worse with a Cummins
