Police say a Metromover car rolled over and killed a station supervisor as he inspected the tracks.

The accident happened Saturday. The computerized vehicle, which is not driven by a conductor, was stopped, but moved forward for an unknown reason.

Police found the body about 100 feet from the platform; the identity of the supervisor wasn't released.

This is the second public transit worker death in the last week. On Sunday night, a 60-year-old Metrorail security officer was shot and killed by two men in a station garage.

i worked with the man that was killed by the metro mover car. his name is joe bryant. i am a retired bus mechanic with miami dade transit. joe worked at bus as a mechanic then transfered to the mover a while back. the rumor going around transit is there was a rookie in training as a dispatcher at the command center in the goverment center building downtown. the goverment center has a control section that controls the mover system and the metrorail train. the mover dispatcher can over ride the on board computer. whenever there is mechanics or supervisors on the track they are in radio contact with the dispatcher alerting his of their location on the track. the mover is not on a track per say but a road way. the car has tires on it an follows the path like a slot car. the rumor is that the rookie gave the command to the car to move forward without checking with the supervisor as to his positon on the guide way. i know the feds will have a full investgation. i retired 2 years ago from bus and i know in the last few years before i retired things were going down hill at transit. joe was 62 years old and a very saftey conscious man. someone in the commaned center f***ed up.
